Obituary
Eddie “Ed” Dean Hidecker of Emporia entered into rest Thursday, February 13, 2020 at his home. He was 63.
Ed was born September 13, 1956 in Council Grove, Kansas to Hollis E. and Erma Louise (Stevenson) Hidecker. He married Sara J. Koehler on February 14, 1982 in Emporia, Kansas. He liked to fish and to wander through the Emporia Zoo. He had a love of nature and a talent for spotting God’s creatures before anyone else despite being blind in one eye. Ed enjoyed traveling with his family to zoos, and fireworks displays, or wherever his family desired. He was involved in the Jaycees starting in Council Grove, then in Emporia. He became a Kansas JCI Senator.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Hollis and Erma Hidecker; sister, Judy Hidecker; and brother, Jim Hidecker. He is survived by his wife, Sara Hidecker of the home; daughter, Angi Hidecker of Emporia, Kansas; sons, Jack (Christina) Hidecker of Sierra Vista, Arizona and Paul Hidecker of Emporia, Kansas; sisters, Kay Ellis, Joy Good, Carol Holm, and Holly Hidecker; brothers, Charlie Hidecker, Kenny Hidecker, and Dennis Hidecker; grandchildren, Kadin, Landen, and Avery Hidecker; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be officiated by Pastor Tony Lantz at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Life Church. Inurnment will follow at Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Emporia Friends of the Zoo in care of Charter Funerals.

family first before anything else. Ed had a way with taking charge, taking chances and taking
